Who is The Regulated Rabbit?
The Regulated Rabbit is run by me, Rachael, a clinician and first-time mom. I hope to inspire you to be the best parent, practitioner, educator, and self you can be using strategies to help regulate your (and others) nervous system and utilizing supports to master executive functioning skills.
Our Story
I started my previous blog, Mindful Rambles, as a way to reach out to others and share my experiences with education, health, and the free-spirited lifestyle I lead. Over a decade later, I found myself in a completely different stage in life, wanting to do more of what I am passionate about: sensory regulation and executive functioning. I’m a compassionate Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, who recognizes the deeply flawed system of ABA. I am a disability advocate and mental health professional utilizing principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Trauma-Informed Care in my practice. I develop trainings and resources for agencies, businesses, practitioners, and families on anti-ableist practices, disability justice, intersectionality, and advocacy. I am an avid reader, first-time parent, and an “old soul” by night. I’m a Midwesterner who lives on the east coast with a west coast state of mind. I want to fill this space with ideas, strategies, resources, tips, advice, questions, support, and humor. I want to expand my horizons and connect with others from all different backgrounds. Please, join me 🙂
My Teaching Credentials and Educational Background:
M.S. Ed in Behavioral Education – Simmons College
Board Certification in Behavior Analysis – Master’s Level
Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst through the State of Massachusetts
Certificate of Nonprofit Management from Fitchburg State University
Initial License in Moderate Disabilities, PK-8
B.S. in Teaching Students with Moderate Disabilities – Wheelock College
Why a Rabbit?
Rabbits tend to be high-energy with a rapid heart rate and quick movements. When I think of an anxious, hyperactive animal I think of, well, a rabbit. It also helps that my nickname as a child was Rabbit and it’s a nice alliteration.
